Spring Cleaning 07 on AT!

0505_clean_house_01.jpgSmall/Cool has wrapped up. And, as with every party aftermath, it's time to clean up! In addition to featuring highlights of ICFF, we're taking the rest of the month to concentrate on Spring Cleaning! Last December, we asked you how often do you clean your home. Since we're now officially on the topic, we thought it would be a good time for a follow-up. In the last poll, most of you said "once a week." Have your habits changed? Would you like them to change? Share with us your best cleaning tips, ideas, products, and questions!

oh no, im the only every-dayer?! haha...

my place is so small, that i'm constantly picking up after myself, so it feels like im always cleaning. i usually choose one little chore to do each day: wiping down the kitchen, dusting the living room, putting away the laundry...plus i have a dog who sheds more than any animal alive, so i literally have to sweep the floors and vaccum the couch nearly every day.

lucky for me, im weirdly obsessed with cleaning, so i dont mind!

goodnight: don't feel bad! I'm actually quite envious of you and our shared passion. When I worked at home, I maintained our apartment quite devoutly each day with a small cleaning regimen that was mostly upkeep of the floors, putting stuff away, and the occasional dusting. I loved keeping the place tidy that way, and it kept the actual upkeep very manageable.

Too bad I'm stuck in an office now :(

There are a few things I do every day, like washing the dishes, scooping the cat box, and putting things away. Some days that's all I'll do and others I'll want to dust or do laundry or vacuum the cat. And once a week I'll do a good clean.

This question is so undefined - does minor everyday clean up, like loading and unloading the dishes, a little laundry, wiping the kitchen counters, count? I try to do a regular cleaning on the weekends - like vacuuming, sinks, dejunking clutter, some dusting - the big stuff. So, I don't know how to vote!

Pixie, I agree. I do minor cleaning everyday, because my space is so small clutter can easily get out of control. However I usually reserve one day a week to seriously clean the entire (390 sq ft) apartment.

I voted "Every day." because compared to most people they probably consider my minor daily cleaning to be real cleaning.

I always consider 'cleaning' something that involves a little elbow grease and a cleaning implement, like scrubbing the tub, vacuuming the floor, dusting. Anything that gets rid of dirt and grime.

Things like loading the dishwasher, putting away clothes and making the bed I feel are classified as 'tidying.'

I have a theory that most men are incapable of seeing dirt. They can tidy a place so it looks nice and uncluttered, but they overlook things like dust, grime on the floor, and soap scum on the shower.

I'm hopeless at picking up after myself but love cleaning things, and my boyfriend likes to tidy but won't pick up a sponge or toilet brush. I usually go on a cleaning spree every week or two. So between the two of us, we manage to keep our house fairly clean and tidy!
