Summer Sublets in Southern California

063008_dean.jpgSummertime is a great time to get away and explore a new place, take some time off and get perspective. Oftentimes way cheaper (and way nicer) than a hotel is finding a sublet in the area you want to stay. Longtme reader Dean is subletting her Highland Park apartment this summer and trust us, it's incredible. Jump below for the details plus a couple other sublets we found:

Dean has a kick ass space that we've featured a bunch of times on AT. Here are the details of the sublet:

dates: August 21 - October 15
about the apartment:
- studio-turned-one-bedroom...the full extra-long bed is in a cozy wooded bed-nook (see photos below)
- large, well-designed living room
- kitchen with pretty much all you'll need...brand new fridge, vintage stove, a little bar and nice glassware, etc.
- bathroom with original tile and a recycled rubber floor
- lots of closet space
- a fenced-in front yard...it's small and shaded and will hopefully have new sod installed soon!
- air conditioned! it stays 70 degrees in my apartment all summer long...
- cable TV with DVR
- wireless internet
- dog friendly!

If you're interested, you can email her directly at goodnightdean@gmail.com

Such a cute place although I do find it funny that the first pic has those fur coverings on every seat and the post is about a SUMMER sublet. Oh the irony...

Also, in the first pic, is that a photo/painting of someone with their hands tied behind their back? kinda bondage-ish??? hmmm...?

i use a flokati rug on my couch because my dog sheds like no dog I've ever met! it's easier to shake that out than to vacuum my couch every other day. yes, it's wool, but I have AC and i find it to be quite comfortable and snuggly. the sheepskins on the other chairs are super soft and i've never thought about them being too warm. they're mostly there until i order fabric to re-cover the cushions.

the photo above the couch is by my friend Caitlin Phillips. it's a self portrait of a girl on a bed, reaching around to unsnap her bra. it's not bondage-y in person at all, it's quite lovely...you can see more of her photography here: http://tinyurl.com/6p3amq

thanks for posting, Laure.

OK... There is a lot here that I love! I'm feeling the wallpaper. Love the rug. Love the color scheme. This is just cute x 10. But like others I'm not feeling the rugs. Please take off the rugs before you submit this photo. It throws stuff off. But back to what I love. Love the shabby chic desk. I don't know what thing is under it but it completely works. I love how you have the red canisters on top of the desk with the lamp with that beautiful wallpaper. Where did you get the wallpaper? What kind is it.

This is too much. I love the alcohol stand thing! Love it. The flowers in that wine bottle. The picture behind it.
Love the artwork in the living room too. The flowers on top of the DVD player. Beautiful. This plays with the color wallpaper and it makes it pop. It also brings out the bright color in the zebra painting. I even like the couch. It's like a 1970s or 1980s. Just wish the rug thing wasn't on it. Ok.. I'll stop now.
