Forget the East. Forget tradition. This is LA.
Today marks the beginning of an exciting new phase for AT:LA as we officially become a group blog hell bent on capturing the far corners of LA design and home decor. After nine months, we're getting local.
Instead of one editor, we now have four, and we'll be adding more in the weeks ahead. The big idea? To celebrate and capture LA home style in all its forms from all over the LA metro area.
Each editor will be posting daily and pulling from deep in their own area. We want the front page of AT:LA to look the the face of LA in all of it's high and low eccentricities and original statements.
We will be starting slowly and adding more posts each week. We are looking over submissions for more editors as well and will be trying some out online. We welcome you to comment and let us know who you really like. This is your website. This is your LA.
Our Lineup so far:
Jonathan Lo - The OC
Turquoise - West Side
Gregory Han - Central
Molly Symmonds - Scavenger
Enrique - Godfather
Want to tryout? email editor (at) apartmenttherapy (dot) com with your name, location and one short sample post that shows some good shit and something missing from our front page.
HA! Godfather? I don't know what that means, but I like it. It sounds nice and menacing...
Woo-hoo. Three cheers for the new AT:LA! Lurkers: time break out of your wallflower status and join in on the party. LA's a big city and the new editorial lineup can't cover it all.
Stoked to see Enrique is a part of this!
Please don't call Orange County "The OC." It's like calling Los Angeles County "The LA." Sounds lame!
hey jenny- i'm kinda taking all of the south side, down through Orange County, so that includes Long Beach- I've already been posting some Long Beach finds, wiht a few more on the way- but let me know if you have any too!
Looking forward to the new AT:LA...
oh man, i hope this means more house tours!
High five to Jon Lo and Miss Turquoise!

Yay! Ooops. Time to update the "About" page:
http://la.apartmenttherapy.com/team.php
And shouldn't the names of editors be consistant? Like names? ;) Jon is not listed as being "HappyMundane" so Vanessa should not be listed as "Turquoise". Oh, and time to update the "remember me" stuff to reflect your new "home" here on AT. So you're linking TO AT in your editorial signatures, not to your outside interests.
Maybe in the AT-LA section there could be links to the editors' other interests or home sites or businesses. Otherwise, it becomes confusing for new people to figure out WHO is an editor and who is just passing through with advice or suggestions or ideas or questions.
Yeah, like a "Bio" about each Editor!!! That would be SOOO cool. Tell us who you are and what else you do and whether you eat Mac and Cheese with a fork or spoon in a bowl or on a plate.
Bio, Bio, Bio, Bio (chanting) I want a Bio area for each editor, linked to in their signature! Woo hoo!
Thanks folks. We're sorta interested in working out the kinks and sorta interested in just rolling hard and getting a full ship.
Team page and all the details will be worked out over time.
AND we're definitely looking to do more house tours. Since it's harder to get around in LA, we have to come up with some good weekly way of visiting people. We don't have the advantage of Jill, who in NYC, hops on and off her bike and takes pictures of people's houses at the drop of a hat. She is unique that way.
Yeah for Turquoise. I love her (your) style. Your online portfolio was so beautiful!
And a couple days later, the first thing that strikes me about AT-LA is how much color now LEAPS off the page!
I've started coming over here for the visual equivalent of an hour under a palm tree with a silly blue drink. (Hey, I'm a Northern Californian... we need LA to be flashy and glamorous and colorful and sometimes faintly seedy.)
Congrats on the new site, and thanks Jon, for your informative email.
I'm new to AT and have a question for anyone who'd care to give a suggestion: Now that my son is grown and (mostly) gone, I'm starting to fix up my apartment. I have the landlord's ok to paint and fell in love with a Dutch Boy color called 'Wicker Chair' - a fairly dark brown. I've done the dining area wall but I'm hesitant to do the entire living area (open floor plan) in the same color as winter in my corner of the world (I'm in the mountains east of Bakersfield) seems long and can be very dreary. Any suggestions for a complimentary color? The carpet is a mottled blue that can't be changed. Thanks!
