apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

No West Coast Contest Entries Yet!!

contest-01-15.jpg“Come out, come out where ever you are!”
Seems people are waiting for someone else to get on the dance floor first, so to speak... Not one entry from the west yet, unless there's an email snafu (which is entirely possible). So, we’re extending the deadline to Thursday. CLICK HERE to enter.

Let’s show those easterners how we hang our art, how we juxtapose our trinkets, and how we frame what we love.

IF YOU HAVE BEEN TRYING TO SEND YOUR STUFF, DO US A FAVOR AND RESEND TO la.apartmenttherapy@verizon.net UNTIL WE GET THINGS FIGURED OUT. Thanks.

Alec, I've been trying to enter since Sunday. Please check your e-mail program. I kept getting bounced. However, the last one I sent wasn't returned. What's up?

Alec@apartmenttherapy.com should work, but also try la.apartmenttherapy@verizon.net.

I don't have big art! I only have tiny art. It seems like the contest is geared more toward the giant take-your-breath-away-when-you-walk-in-the-room kind of art.

I wanna see tiny art... aquarabbit, enter! Before I could afford bigger pieces, I would buy smaller paintings and drawings. In fact, I still continue to buy small canvases (some as small as 5"x5")! Enter, enter, enter. The fun of these contests is getting to see how each person interprets the parameters of the competition: small/cool, color, etc.

Here are some great examples of affordably-priced tiny art (5"x5" for Leora Lutz's work and 4"x4" for Plasticgod/Doug Murphy's work, courtesy of Aunt Beep:

Tiny art would be lovely to see. Please share!

I can't imagine ever buying a whompus painting that dominates a wall, partly because there's not much wall left after the bookshelves here. Inspiration for great stuff that's a little... smaller... would be extremely welcome.

Aquarabbit I went to you show. I love the poetry of the pieces + titles.

My friend Jane and I are hoping to go to the opening Thursday. Looking forward to meeting you.

p.s. The people working in the store were so sweet. Very cool.

well drat! I missed the deadline... I was assuming that my entry would be no good. I have a little collection of tiny pieces in my bathroom right now, and I just love the way they pull the whole room together. I'll take a pic and post it anyway, sans contest.. thanks for the encouragement!

ebrown-- thank you so much! that is incredibly sweet of you to come to my show. I am so excited and nervous about the reception tomorrow night!

hmm... if I had actually read the above before posting, I might have noticed that the deadline has been extended. I will take a snap of my mini-art tonight and send it in. :)

Can us NorCal people get in on the action? I have some nice original art I would like to show off... and give some much needed publicity to the artist! :)
