Each monthly video showcases some interesting furniture, shops, and more. In the intro, she explains that although she's worked first hand with the world's best designers, and has learned what "great design is,"she's also "living on a budget...in a shoebox...so she's learned how to make it work..." The video goes on to show some fun items Mary has found, all of which are in good taste and pretty affordable, or well worth the investment. We think this is a great step from AD to reach out to a younger, hipper, and tech savvy-ier audience. It will be interesting to see if this affects the content of the magazine. If it's a success, we could see this possibly spinning off into a separate thing on it's own. What do you guys think?
Okay first I have to say - great idea!
The presentation is there and I appreciate this editor trying to reach out to a younger audience of Arch Digest readers.
But with that said, why would you show a $6000 dresser and a flippin bird house for $250 bucks, who says she lives in shoebox and is on a tight budget.
It doesn't make sense to me...
Anyone else agree?
I agree, for someone on a budget I am not about to spend $5000 on a piece of furniture. I used to subscribe but found it too unrealistic for everyday people. I don't live like that and don't have clients that do either. Nice idea but too high end for me.
These are Mary's finds for people who " want" to spend their money. "Hey, I do not know what to do with all the money I have so lets go and buy some tea boxes for $90." and who changes their furniture every few seasons and have a house in every continent and one or many for every season.
This is for the kind of people who would like to go and shop their groceries at Harolds with their maids and chauffeurs.
I think it's a super cute idea. I know several Conde mags are working on similar features so I think the general idea is a great one.

I think this new outlet is a fabulous idea for AD...especially the portion about the glass artist(justin ginsberg). Keep up the good work Mary
What an amazing concept, Mary has showcased items for everyone's budget; from the nic nacs to the main pieces. I love love love this idea, keep it up Mary and AD!
