I need to replace the ugly stained off white carpeting in the living room/dinning room of my apartment. The landlord will not replace it. I have kids, so I am looking for something that won't show every little stain. I am on a tight budget. Can anyone reccomend any carpet stores or other economical flooring ideas? Thanks.

LAgal, find someone with a Costco membership and buy your mattress there. That's how I got my brand name firm mattress.
gkay - I'm thinking that you should go to a carpet warehouse and buy a carpet remnant, which they will sell for cheap just to get rid of it. Since you are going to carpet only a section of your home, they may have a remnant to fit your size.

Carpet remnants are wonderful. I got a $50/yd wool blend for $12/yd, and took advantage of a $99 install special. I love my carpet. Don't skip on quality carpet pads, though, unless you're renting. :-)
