I dont think anyone has mentioned Bergamont Station in Santa Monica.
This was taken from www.LA.com:
Once a trolley station, this unique space has been transformed into an arts complex housing more than 30 galleries, 10 shops and a cafe.
Bergamot Station is a campus-like art gallery complex with an old industrial feel. Galleries are housed in small spaces flanking a large parking lot. Many galleries hold their openings on the first Saturday of each month.
Is anyone else waiting for all the Art contest entries before voting?

I know this is off-topic but it's bugged me for a long time. On all of the AT sites, clicking on the link to read the comments takes you to the "Post a comment" part of the page. Which then means scrolling up past all of the comments to then work back down the list to read them in chronological order. If the link would go to an anchor set at the first comment the process would be a lot smoother.

And while I'm complaining about trivialities in a great site, wouldn't it make more sense for the "More..." links to take you to the part of the entry where there's new stuff instead of back to the top of the extended article?

Back on topic now.
Another resource that y'all might find interesting for odd, one-off pieces of amature art (of a huge range of quality -- mostly poor but occasionally quite snappy) is Etsy at http://www.etsy.com. It's a central listing of current wares of hundreds of artists and crafters.
If you have a need for something in particular, there's even a section of the site where you can describe it and how much you think you'd like to pay for it and people will bid on offers to make it for you.

Hey Turquoise... The only thing I could find on the PS Mod Com website for this weekend was a vintage postcard slideshow presentation. http://www.psmodcom.com/SlideShow.html But Modernism week is right around the corner 2/17-24. Here's the schedule. http://www.psmodcom.com/SlideShow.html An open house of a restored Albert Frey prefab is on the schedule!

Art Month-related posting: Last night, I went to an opening reception for photographer Austin Young at the LA Gay and Lesbian Center Village on McCadden. His style is very flash and pop with an '80s new wave slant in terms of color and composition--which ultimately felt very commercial. A bit reminiscent of both Guy Boudin and Rankin in style and execution--but with an ironic gay cultural twist. His subject matter includes lively portraiture of icons of the art, music, drag and performance worlds: Leigh Bowery, Margaret Cho, Debbie Harry, Anne Magnusson, Zhang Ziyi, Russ Meyer-babe Tura Satana, Jackie Beat, Varla Jean Merman (whose new musical revue "I'm Not Paying for This" I caught after the reception at the adjacent theatre space), singer Anita O'Day, and the Velvet Hammer girls (LA's burlesque revivalist troupe who stage the burlesque/Mexican wrestling "Lucha Va-Voom" events). Mixed in with the portraiture was his high-fashion beauty imagery. The show just went up and takes up two gallery spaces at The Village. It's definitely worth checking out, especially if this type of pop culture imagery is your thing. Here's a profile on him and link to his website, if you'd like to check out his work.
PS The crowd at the reception was a hoot: Art/Performance folks; affluent professional gays; Industry gays; the Velvet Hammer divas; drag queens; club kids and club adults; gay pornstars; SM leather dads; and fashion kids with good hair. It felt like the gallery opening from movie "Eyes of Laura Mars". Only with more lip-liner. And steroids.
