I say we talk about Martha Stewart's upcoming magazine, Blueprint, aimed at thirty-something women to try and teach and inspire us in the ways of decorating, dressing, throwing a good cocktail party, and organizing our closets. Anyone have any comments about this? Do you think BLUEPRINT will be a big bang or a big blah?

Re Martha's new magazine. I guess it'll have to compete with Domino, which has alot of devotees ( I'm one of them!) It'll be interesting to see if Martha can do something new- you never know.
But hey, I'm getting ready to re-do my bedroom. At the moment I'm planning on taupey walls (Farrow and Ball 'Elephants Breath' I have a dark iron bed and I want fuscia drapes, not dupioni. Not expensive. something with a linen-ey texture. If anyone comes across good hot pink drapes or inexpensive fabric I'd love to know!!!!
Thanks!

For starters, move the last of our stuff up from San Diego to San Clemente. Next look for these three things: Smaller, more cost effective version of the Pleated Table Lamp at West Elm (http://ww1.westelm.com/cat/pip.cfm?template=8grid&pkey=cwlllam&gids=w200&cid=wlllam&area=shp), a dining table with strong clean lines and a dark finish, and a duvet cover as a foundation to the rest of our new bedroom. Any suggestions?

Hey, just wanted to let everyone know I was scouting out a floor length mirror for my apartment. I headed over to West Elm, Blueprint, and Ikea. The best mirror I found was...surprisingly, from Ikea. Check out the Mongstad Floor Length Mirror for $99. I'm only recommending if you're looking for something sort of modern but has a lot of weight to it. I really loved mine! I normally have very iffy luck there, so I was impressed to find this looking so sharp: http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10103&storeId=12&langId=-1&productId=46908

I just went to Ikea yesterday to help my friend get a new desk. Ooooh, it was so crowded! Forgot it was a holiday weekend... oops! But we got a really kick-ass dining table that's about 90" long for him to use as a desk; it's fantastic. Getting it into my Honda Civic was comical.
I'm sure that on this glorious sf day, all of you want to come over and finish polishing my bed frame, right?? Oy, I've gotta get that done.

LOL... Dana had a similar experience yesterday. I drove out to Santa Monica to buy the West Elm's webbed accent chair--which is on closeout. All they had left of the natural color was the floor model; so, they knocked off another 10% on top of the 50% markdown. Getting the the bulky-dimensioned chair into the backseat of my little car was a 20 minute comical ordeal, especially by myself. But I got the chair home; and it looks great in my living room! $152 plus tax and sweat equity. Bam!
