Hi, I am in the middle of re-organizing by bedroom and on the lookout for an L shaped corner desk and nightstands. checked craigslist but haven't found anything i like so far. Can you give me some suggestions or retail options. Thanks in advance.

What happened to Scavenger LA? I feel like I rarely see it anymore. I love the feature. Please keep it up.

I've noticed that there is a heavy skew towards mid-century modern – both in the content, UGC & reader feedback *(partially exemplified in the SmallCool voting). Personally, I am not a fan of mid-century modern, but that's a preference thing, not a reflection of quality or judgement.

My question is; For most people on a budget, is this a look that is both achievable and blends well with most apartments' architecture & tilework and that accounts for the skew? Or is it that most people love the whimsy, look, memories or what have you and damn the cost? In other words, is it a pleasant pragmatism or a genuine love that drives this?

I would just like to say that it pays to make friends with the lovely people who work at the nice hotel a few blocks from my house. The use of the pool and lounge chairs this weekend was much needed and much appreciated.

M@--I'd say that at least in LA, there's just a whole lot of mid century furniture around on craigslist and in flea markets. For me, there is also the nostalgia--my grandmother's mid century living room set now sits in my living room, etc. Of course depending on where you look, you can end up paying an arm and a leg, but I've been able to find a lot of deals using patience and craigslist and negotiating!

Speaking of mid-century, won't someone buy my Modernica Case Study Shelving Unit? I really need some help here, Apartment Therapy.

I am moving to a smaller place in May. The stress of moving is only offset by my excitement to make a crappy place a great place.

what's everybody's take on what's happening with rental prices in LA? they're starting to go down a bit, but just a bit. in my neighborhood, at least a full third of all the buildings have had "for rent" signs in front of them for going on two (sometimes more) months now.

it's a renter's market for sure. i am seeing great deals for places, but i don't think it's hit all landlords yet that they can't rent places for crazy prices anymore. i think it won't stop. everyone i've talked to about vacant apartments has the same story about people moving back "home" because the industry is slow or party planners loosing their jobs.

i also wonder why we don't see LA scavenger more often. every time i see one for the other communities, i get all hopeful, but then get disappointed when there isn't one for LA.

Hey folks, I posted this on the NY thread this morning but apparently I'm the ONLY ONE who's posted there today!

So, I just signed a lease for a new apartment yesterday. YAY! 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a living room/kitchen combo.

The only downside is the living room area is a bit small. SOOO... I came to apartment therapy in search of something I saw quite a while back, a dining table/island that was attached to the wall on one end and on suspension cables on the other so that it could fold up and out of the way. Pretty sure it was made out of wood. BUT... I've been searching for that post for hours with no luck.

HELP! Thanks.

I also miss LA Scavenger. I found an amazing lamp once through a post here that I would have completely missed otherwise. Please, LA Editors, bring this back!
