Design Public has been running an organizing fest over on their blog, Hatch, to try to help people get a jumpstart on the new year. We loved some of their tips for organizing the bedroom which included: moving anything that doesn’t belong, clearing off flat surfaces and doing a once through of your closet and dresser (rather than an all-weekend purge-fest). For a good old fashioned kick in the pants check out some of the other posts we found to be particularly helpful:

Once I realized that organizing is like eating or bathing (a really long shower on Sat. doesn't help anything by Thurs.) and has to be done daily in smaller amounts, I've been much better organized.

I have a question about the lead photo:
What are the mechanics of sleeping in that bed? It looks like its outfitted with a fitted sheet and a thin sheet/blanket tucked tightly into the bottom third of the bed. Are you supposed to untuck that sheet/blanket every night and carefully retuck it each morning? And when you untuck it, won't you be cold under just one little coverlet?
I'm continually confused by the way beds are dressed in the photos on Apartment Therapy.

AZkathy, that's a brilliant analogy! I often tell my clients that organizing is like working out in many ways:
-It only takes a little bit of time commitment each day to make a big difference in your overall goal
-You sometimes need a buddy to coach you along (or a professional)
-Sometimes you dread getting started but once you're done you feel so much better
-You have to keep up with it or else all the amazing effort you've made will be lost
