Ikea Tripp Storage Tins

042208_ikea.jpgWe happen to live in a place that has zero closets. That means that almost all of our stuff is out in the open on shelves, on credenzas (thank god for inside credenzas) and we're always on the lookout for ways to curb the clutter. These retro inspired tins from Ikea are perfect for home office clutter and add a bright, clean look to the desk:

The Ikea Tripp Storage Tins are sold as a pack of 3 for $2.99. They're meant to hold coffee and tea, but we think they're way too great to quarantine them in the kitchen. So like we said, use them for office supplies, hair ties and bobby pins, band aids, seed packets, business cards, etc.

What would you use them for?

Don't forget these:

Most office storage looks like crap...so I'd go with that. Ikea's newer stuff has been very sharp looking. That is, assuming it doesn't fall apart or decompose upon contact with matter.

I've gone to the Ikea near me (20 minute drive) twice in a month and they did not have the tall tins in stock. pretty disappointing since I don't own a car and these two trips were a rarity.

I read in some other comments thread -- order by phone and you can get stuff 'not sold online'?

I bought these a little while ago because I thought they were pretty neat looking and I'm always looking for more storage containers. I, also got those cute polka dot containers meant for the bathroom. Now that I have them I'm not sure what to use them for. So I'm interested in any creative ideas. I like the idea of using them for office supplies or in the bathroom. Hmm... Any other ideas out there?

you can only order by phone, what is featured in the catalog.
if it's not in the catalog, nor available to order online, you need to go into the store to get it.

woodleyparkzoo: It's been several years since I've done it, but yes when I called IKEA to place an order they informed me that I could also order anything by phone that's in the catalog.
