Inspiration: An Empty Room

052009empty-01.jpgWe briefly mentioned earlier today that we repainted our kitchen and bathroom this week. After we were done painting the kitchen, we noticed of a couple things to consider when you're looking to rearrange your space...

Before we started to paint, we took almost everything out of the kitchen, leaving a bare space. We also stripped the walls of their lighting, face plates and pictures to prep and prime the walls. What we noticed was our ability to imagine the space in a completely different way. Because we had an empty room, we could visualize our furniture placement in a new way. With no boundaries of art already on the walls, we could start fresh. We also noticed that the sweeping and mopping (and general cleaning overall) was more effective. The empty room even inspired us to go a step further and wash our ceiling globes--which hadn't been tackled in three years. It was quite a surprise to us that an empty room would inspire us to think about the space in a whole new light.

I luv the thought of an empty room. So much potential. Often have dreams about it.
