Inspiration: "Carrie" Lace Basket in the bathroom

With the recent discussion here at ATLA of displaying toiletries in the shower, we started thinking about ways of storing things in other areas of your bathroom. Last week, as we were clearing through some magazine clutter, we came across this image in the November 2007 Marie Claire Maison magazine, which showed an interesting use of the "Carrie" lace basket...

We love how they mounted them to the wall and used them for storage. The "lace look" design keeps it from looking visually heavy, yet provides a fun and practical solution for all your bathroom supplies. In early 2007, this "Carrie" lace basket was quite popular and made the rounds on all the design blogs. (see AT:Chicago's post here) They were available for a short time at CB2, but then they stopped carrying it. You could still get them via DesignHouseStockholm.com for $45 but we just found out you can get them locally at Plastica for only $34!.

Another variation on this look could be to mount some of these lacey Laser Cut Ledges from Brocade Home. A little more permanent looking, these are made of wood but are also a bit more expensive ($99).

Very nice. I can envision one of two of these in a bedroom, too.

I've been hanging onto that clipping for a long time, thinking about one (or more) for the bathroom. They're very pretty.
