Move Your Desk: Change Your Look
Plus, A New Use For Contact Paper

012809desk-04.jpgWe spotted Christy's before and after desk on flickr and snooped around a little bit on her photostream. Turns out, this desk (pictured above) is where her work area used to live. Moving the desk just a few feet across the room gave her more room to work and store her belongings.

Christy replaced her desk with a white buffet cabinet. She moved the desk because she wanted a warmer climate and she also needed more space to stow office supplies. You can see in this picture that the desk was previously placed beside a sliding glass door--which left Christy in the cold.

The desk in its new home only had to travel a few feet across the room. Using a great organizing tip to go vertical, Christy's office supplies have a place to call home. Not to mention the extra storage space of two stools to handle incoming paperwork.

She received the birdhouse from a friend but once it was placed on the wall, she thought it looked a little naked. By taking white contact paper, Christy DIY'd her own wall decal--love it!

This used to be a plain gray metal box. Christy decided to spray paint this hand-me-down a robin's egg blue and again, used white contact paper to make her letters.

Ha - I was just popping in to ask who makes the desk and where can I get one! My 300sf apartment is in desperate need of a smaller desk.

I, too, have been looking for a small, white desk exactly like this and would love it if someone could identify it.

Re: the desk and where it was purchased. I am pretty sure I got it at Chiasso, and it was on super clearance. I don't think I even paid $100 for it. But I don't see it on the site now. I will do some more hunting and see if I can find it.

And thanks for the compliments!

Good job, emmysb! Too bad it is not available, but hopefully with that info someone can track it down elsewhere.

Love it all. You've inspired me to make my own wall graphics.

GAH... the desk is sold out. Course. It's the exact size and style I've been dreaming of.
