Step Baskets

We all know the importance of a "landing strip." However, not all of us have a space right close to where our door is. In our house, we actually enter from the garage. This then leads to a set of stairs, before we can finally get to the main living area. Therefore, our stairs become our "landing strip." This has caused some clutter problems...

We've been looking for some sort of basket to organize the stuff that gets left on the steps. Over at the OrganizingLA blog, they've listed a bunch of options for stair baskets. This leather one from The Holding Company really catches our eye because it's so modern and chic. Unfortunately it's 125 British pounds, and its from the UK, so it's a bit out of our reach. Over at Ohdeedoh, they recently posted this nice Rattan Step basket from Ballard Designs.

This one actually has a smaller organizer that lifts out, and is much more affordable at $39.50. Do any of you also end up collecting or placing stuff on the stairs like us? We're wondering if any of you have seen or use any other options?

My question is why they keep beverages on their stairs? Maybe it's a really really long staircase.

Ooh, I love the first one, too bad it's so expensive!

I have never seen step containers except for Longaberger, which I don't care for at all because it's not my style--at least the rattan one isn't as country as the Longaberger ones!

I searched for these in the past. There isn't one that I found that is either good looking enough or worth the cost.
