The A-Z Home Journal

050908_az.jpgEver since we read about keeping a home bible in the latest issue of Domino, we've been thinking about how much easier life would be if we had one. All of the contacts, paint colors and repair people, all organized in one place. Then we spotted this Home Journal and we were one step closer:

050908_az2.jpg
050908_az3.jpgWe love how classic and compact this one is (much nicer than the 3 ring binder we were considering) and with additional categories like movies and internet, we can jot down movies we want to watch, parties we want to plan and who to call and where to find inspiration to make it all happen. Instead of having these ideas and contacts scattered all over the house (and our brain) we would have it all in this simple book.

Available from Daisy Arts on Abbot Kinney. There are also journals for bride's to be, for happiness (to write down things you're grateful for), and regular address books.

Speaking of Domino, the editors are putting a book out in the fall.

Love the idea of it; doubt if it will work for me. I don't have pets or kids (though that could change, hopefully any day now!) and after many, many years of trying packaged solutions like these, I have come to value the flexibility of that 3-ring binder. I also liked the idea of combining the yearly calendar as shown in the Domino article into the Home binder. I don't know if this allows for that addition.

I'm with Deepa...I also read that article. A three ring binder (in great color) is more flexible and I also like combining a yearly calendar as well.

I went right out and purchased a hot pink binder just to create a home bible...I'll let you know how it turns out! :)

Whenever I do a significant remodel, we always document the space with the new wiring and plumbing before we close the walls up. Start with a floorplan view mark where each shot was taken for reference.
That way, whenever further changes are made or questions are posed, there is an easy guide to "where's that drain go?"
We also include the names of everyone who's been involved, and paint drawdowns for matching later.
