Do you know what we're most looking forward to this holiday season beyond the usual festivities and family meals together? Just finding some time to read. Not "read" as in "read one article in the tub" or a few minutes before sleep. But the actual practice of finding a few hours to get comfortable in the corner of our house with a book and really delve into it with all of our attention. That will be a present in itself. Every reader needs a good source of illumination, and this lamp designed by BKM would make a unique beside companion, providing both a place to put our glasses and to illuminate our engaging read...

Beautiful. This would be even better if it were possible to do this with a fabric shade. The legs look like an afterthought, a pedestal base would be amazing on this thing. I wonder where and how this thing is wired. Do you see the wiring on the inside of the shade or outside?

I love the fact that it's NOT a fabric shade! Wood can be so beautiful, and gives such a warm soft reflected light. Wood makes it appear more like a sculptural piece of furniture, which it is.
There appears to be a piece of trim on the outside to conceal the wiring. It's on the left of the lamp in the top-left photo, and on the right of the lamp in the bottom right photo.
The curved slot for variable "dimming" is genius.

It is cool looking but doesn't seem like it is very effective as a reading lamp. What are you supposed to do, put the book on the shelf, like a mini-desk?
