Sandra's Layered Porch

062409layer-01.jpgWhen our goal is a cozy, inviting space, it's good to think about layering items. Sandra incorporates the layered look on her back patio which makes us feel right at home.

062409layer-03.jpgInstead of just placing her ceramic planter on the ground, Sandra puts it inside a gently used wooden crate. Not only does it keep the deck clean from plant run-off it adds an extra layer of texture.

062409layer-02.jpgSure, chairs are fine undressed but by simply placing a decorative pillow cushion on top makes the experience much more delightful.

062409layer-04.jpgA tablecloth and a planter on the deck's railing round out the cozy patio.

it is so girly in the country cute, without being sickenly shabby chic. Love it!

1) what are those are those light pink flowers? geraniums?
2) Where are the planters from?

I'd actually want to turn the crate upside down and put the plant on top of it, to give the corner a bit of height and put something between the floor plants and the window box.

Very cute space, love the tablecloth fabric. And there's nothing like a whisky crate to keep things from getting saccharine. ;)

Hi everyone. Sandra here! (Owner of the balcony). I thought I'd answer some of your questions.

I live in Sweden and have bought everything here. If you are from Sweden and want the store names I can give them to you.

Yes. The flowers in the window box are geraniums. I bought them really cheap at a supermarket and I love them!

About the crate: We think alike whytephoenix! My initial idea was to put the crate upside down and put the plants on top. However the bottom is very ugly and a bit broken, so that wasn't really an option. However I still wanted to use it and therefore I put them inside the crate instead.

I am very glad you all liked my balcony. I sure am pleased with it and spend every sunny morning there!
