Mid-Project Report: Painting the House

082708_midwayhouse.jpgA big thanks to all of you who chimed in for my Color My House question! I took some photos this afternoon now that the exterior of the house is painted and wanted to share. The front door hasn't been touched yet (still wavering on midnight navy or red...grrrr), and I've also been staring at porch light styles and house numbers for days.

Once the house is finished, the next project is planting a tree and picking plants for the front...

Love the new color and I think it would be STUNNING with midnight navy on the door!

Seconding the navy. I also like the Snorkel Blue but I think it could be a little darker.

Looks great! Thanks for sharing your progress. I vote for a warm color for the door: red or . . . yellow!

A dark grayish blue. Think about the types of color schemes you typically prefer from your favorite room, the way you typically dress, magazines etc. Do the color schemes have bold or subtle contrasts? many colors? monochromatic or 2 toned? etc. My personal pick would be a midnight blue despite the fact that I love red.

YELLOW DOOR.....and then plant some yellow flowers :-)

I vote for dark navy. It will complement your new paint. Personally I think that red doors are overdone, and it would be difficult to come up with a red color that wouldn't clash with the bricks.

Colors don't clash - Patterns do.

You are smart to grow plants in front of the brick as well as those that will drape over the planters. The greenery is going to do wonders in drawing attention to the house and the door.

Whatever color you choose, I am sure it will look great.

At first I was all "red! red!" about the door, but I like the yellow door idea -- very classy. I'd also say that orange would be FUN and unexpected.

Thanks for sharing with us!
