Talk about a pain in the neck! Last night we discovered our apartment bathroom sink's plumbing had sprung a moderate size leak. The pipe was spraying water like your Uncle Jeb after one too many Budweisers, and most of our bathroom floor was covered in a shallow puddle of water. Thank goodness the leak was discovered relatively early, and that there was a big fluffy bath mat to soak up a great deal of the water that did find its way onto our floor.
After getting back from an emergency trip to Home Depot, I was able to stop the leak using some Nashua Silicone Sealing tape and a locking visegrip wrench. Another temporary technique is to use hose clamps or a C-clamp and some rubber sheeting. All these solutions are merely temporary, and I myself am waiting for my turtle in a halfshell landlord to send his handyman/plumber to replace the hemorrhaging pipe. It's gonna be a long week....
