My cat is too weird about what she will and won't scratch that I couldn't risk a fancy scratcher that would go to waste. Right now she's liking the ones from Ikea, which is great as they're super cheap.

I've had it with the cardboard scratchers as I'm tired of vacuuming up the debris. We're back to the carpet-covered board.

My cat only likes the cardboard scratchers. Which is actually nice for things like furniture and rugs. I would sooner try to make something like these than spend for one, but I'm sure she would love it. I am already trying to work on that cardboard chaise longue posted a day or two ago. Being just past the big "move-in" day in Boston (implying moves out as well), one of my neighbors put a wing-back chair next to the dumpster that was completely shredded on one side. I hate the cardboard debris also, but my cat doesn't like sisal or rug, and I gotta start getting some new furniture! We can't have that sad chair.

I catsit for someone who sprinkled catnip on the scratcher for her cat and boy did he love it. She'd turn it over every so often so that the catnip that had settled would be up at the top again, and thus more attractive to the kitty.
These look so great, but I think I'd have to choose either one of the structural "Pounce" models or the pod deal.
