After seeing what is possibly the worlds best dog leash the argument of what kind of dog we each want has been raised in our house again. While nothing I write here will convince my husband that a sausage dog is our ideal pet, we both agree on this leash...
This lead is luminous and perfect for walking your 4 legged friend at night. They’re made using EL lights which are thin, flexible, cool and energy efficient. There is also a solid reflective strip on the other side and it takes a standard 9 volt battery which lasts for 16 hours. Currently on sale for $33. Have you tried this or would you recommend something similar?

A sausage dog is the ideal pet. My boyfriend heavily protested the purchase (he's more a big dog man), but now I've caught him sneaking the dog treats and them napping on the couch together. Just get the dog, and say he followed me home. They will be best friends in two weeks. :-)

I would consider it. I've had joggers run up on us in the dark and once one of them stepped on my small black pug. Maybe a glowing leash would call their attention to the dog attached to it.

There's a woman who walks around my city with her lil dog & as the evenings get darker in the fall thay both don matching reflective vests. The pooch also wears a flashing pendant that can be seen from space. This is much cooler.

I like the idea, but the handle just doesn't look very comfortable. We have a clip-on flashing LED lamp for our American Bulldog's collar that works quite well.

No matter what you decide, make sure you do LOTS of research on the breed, exercise/attention requirements and common health problems.

A sausage dog (we call 'em wiener dogs) is great in a small space. And it's the ideal small dog for big dog people, because they think they are big and invincible. (One of ours stole a ball from a pit bull and wouldn't give it back.) Dachshunds may not be good neighbors in spaces with thin walls, as their bark is very loud. But they are delightful and humorous love sponges!
Although I like the fluorescent aspect of the leash, that handle would get old in a hurry, and it's not clear that it's flexible enough to comfortably short-leash while walking city streets. Simple leather or nylon leashes with a loop handle at the top are best.
