Litter-Robot

litterrobot.jpgEver wondered what your cat would look like as a space race era cosmonaut? Us too! Now you can fulfill your fantasies of sending Trixie into outerspace and let her do her thing with the always tantalizing feature of fully automated litter cleaning. The Litter-Robot uses patented litter sifting technology to automatically clean those brown moon rocks and store away up to a week's worth of the unwanted specimens for disposal at your leisure.

If it really works as well as the strangely mesmerizing flash animation on their site, it's almost arguable the Litter-Robot is worth the NASA budget $299 price tag.

FYI: Great info on the Litter-Robot can be found here:

I have to admit, the thing is tempting...

Oh take my word for it this IS soooo worth the price!
I would throw out the last working littermaid if not for the fact that , Rotunda, yes , that is what we call her, cannot fit her 25 pounds through the door on this.
The other kitties can and that is what matters.
This device is amazing and I love it.
I do not even mind buying good quality litter for it because it saves me so much trouble and is so stingy on litter use that it pays for itself, also looks way cool. Who knew that kitties emerging from the litterbox could be such a conversation piece?

Witchdoc, I have 2 pusses, one of which is 26 pounds, so I was correct in assuming that the big guy couldn't fit. He's almost to big for the jumbo electronic littermaid.

So the littermaid is truly inferior to the litter robot?

Littermaid, a great design idea destroyed by crappy quality control and abysmal customer service.
The litter-robot is what littermaid could have been.
Kitties over say 20 lbs will not fit and will not use the litter-robot. That said, it is still agreat device, works well or they hot foot to give you one that does, and fast. Totally worth the money.
Littermaid works better than nothing, but not by much. Littermaid is not worth the money it costs, litter-robot is.

I just was linked here by Product Dose and raved about this over there. I bought this in November of last year and thought I was completely insane for spending over $300 on a litterbox but I loathe scooping up cat treasures and no matter how often you clean, there's that smell of litter/urine/poop that seems to hang around the house. Well let me tell you, this thing totally changed our apartment dwelling life! No more odor and we don't have to scoop sh*t either! We empty the bag twice a week, add some litter and that's that. Our cats adapted fairly quickly too.

I LOVE my litter robot. I have 2 cats, about 12 pounds each. Also, here is a tip - if you don't want to shell out $300, Litter Robot actually sells some reconditioned units, just call the number on the web page and ask if they have any. That is how I ordered mine, and it looked new and has had no problems since I got it. They told me that some of the "reconditioned" units are just returns from people whose cats are either too big or too wussy to use it.

If you click on my name there is a pic of my LR, and a lack side table with curry legs (all IKEA) that I have over it.

Before I got the LR, I actually had 2 littermaids die a slow, and very loud death (the motor eventually burns out because it isn't powerful enough to handle the strain of raking through litter).

Also, I found this site very useful when deciding what kind of litter box to get: http://www.litterbox-central.com/forum/
It covers all the major automatic boxes.

You mean this thing actually works? I think my cats would believe it's the vacuum cleaner.

I say, train your cats to crap in the head - www.citikitty.com

I like the idea but not the price. I have booda-boxes and they work well, but you do have to clean them out.

Before spending $$$ on this thing, try switching to a litter that isn't inherently disgusting. I switched to Feline Pine last year - after discovering a rusty razor blade and a cigarette butt in a "fresh" container of litter crystals - and could not be happier with the product. http://www.felinepine.com/felinepine.html Now I only need to scoop the solid waste, and there are never any sharp-edged crystals scattered on the bathroom floor. Best of all, Feline Pine is made from a renewable resource.

"Brown moon rocks." Creative Writing 101 teacher says, "Great use of euphemism. Like, I totally laughed internally."

I watched that Flash animation. Totally made my Friday night, I am not leaving my apartment now.

Ooh la love. For the first time in my life, I want a cat, a pet that isn't wearable, like a snakeskin clutch, ponyskin pumps, or a mink coat. Le shocking.

Jermaine again. Figured out my favorite part of the Flash movie = "Sediment countdown." Maybe I had too many mochas, but it got my heart pounding.

What's that window in the litter orb? Is that there in case the thing rolls over to scoop up brown moon rocks when your cat is still in the thing?

Totally buying that for my MOM for the holidays. Her cat is her baby.
