apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Modern Cat Condo

atla041408-modcat01.jpgLooks like cat owners are beginning to see their prayers being answered, and a few designers are introducing cat furniture that you'd be more apt to point out than tuck away into a corner or hidden room, like this Modern Cat Condo. Details and more photos under the jump...

atla041408-modcat02.jpgSure, your feline would probably just be as happy climbing a pile of empty boxes, but why not give them something nicer so you won't look so much like the crazy cat woman/man that everybody has been whispering behind your back. The Modern Cat Condo is available in both a tall and small version, with both models offering foam scratching pads attached to a stable steel frame (they better be stable, considering the madness that often ensues here at our apartment at 1am). Looks like there a few happy felines out there already living it up.

I think the biggest problem with these kinds of things is that you have no way of knowing if your cat is going to take to it or not. I could set up Kitty Xanadu and I'd still find them snuggled up against the heat of a power strip ...

First, how did they steal my cat for these photos?!?!

It's very nice looking but crazy expensive! I can never know what she'll like though...like that time I bought her a really nice cat pillow that was advertised as "irresistable to cats!". She sniffed the pillow (I swore she rolled her eyes too) and promptly layed on the plastic bag it came in, lol. Out of all of the cat "furniture" that I've brought home, she's only liked the "carpet covered monstrosity". Go figure.

bkrafi, my cats do the same thing! I bought a cute, soft bed for them because I didn't want them to keep sleeping on the bed. They _hated_ it and then decided to use it as a litter box.

But put an old shoe box on the floor and they're all over it.
