Necobaco Cat Tree

atla040708-necobaco01.jpgThe last time we posted about a cat tree, reader opinion seemed to have split 50/50 between yay and nay, illustrating how hard it is to find cat furniture that appeals to both our desire to provide our whiskered friends a place to play (or relax), while not detracting from our own interior decor. We think we might have found our own dream cat playground...

atla040708-necobaco02.jpgLooking look like the offspring of a Lloyd Wright building and a Mondrian, the Necobaco cat tree is a customizable resin treated cat tree with carpeted platforms. Unfortunately, we might as well add this amazing piece of feline furniture onto our last top 10 list, because for now, this one is for Japan only.

Not so crazy about resin construction, but it looks nicer than a lot of things I've seen on the market.

That's actually pretty cool -
- Now if they can fit a hidden litter box in the base...

I would love a scratching post / cat scratcher designed along these lines. Does anyone know of any?

I'm allergic to cats, but if I had one, THIS probably wins. And if Japan won't sell it to you, then DIY it without the resin, but with MDF or something. It's worth it.

Yes, a perfect cat tree also has something for the cats to scratch on, and this does not. The platforms also look on the small side. My cat likes to stretch out and nap on his. It is cool looking though.

i don't have a cat, but looking at this, i can imagine an ikea hack using the benno CD tower and riffing on this idea:

Pixie: that's pretty cool...I like the small footprint of that staircase.

it's ok, i guess. i like that staircase one linked to. unfortunately, my poor fat cat wouldn't survive a moment on these things. he is so not agile or graceful.

as to scratchers, i bought this recently, and the cats like it (i guess...)

for $150, i wish they liked it more.

kdkaboom - good intel on your cats' level of liking that. I was pondering getting something similar for mine, but maybe not. Although I actually do think she would like it. She likes everything.

@polkadot - I have a stack of leftover Ikea parts (shelves, drawer fronts, etc.) in my garage that I'm determined to use for a descreet cat climber, probably enclosed to the front but still with peep holes. I haven't seen such a hack yet, so I just keep moving them around like a puzzle and collecting ideas. It's not there yet, but I think I can come up with something that looks more like furniture then 99% of what's out there.

Oh god, the upper right pic is utterly cute!
Btw Necobaco means "cat box". Prrrr!

looks like something out of the movie Shock Treatment. lol.

A little bit too busy for my tastes. I think it would clutter up the room, and you want it in your living room, not the laundry or bathroom. The cat is a part of your family and should have a space with the family.

I'd much rather build my own abstracty cat tower that double functions as a bookshelf.
