Sari's DIY Cat Castle

Emily and I are admittedly becoming that weird forever-unmarried couple who have no plans to have children, but fawn over their two cats like they were indeed our offspring. We're like Kurt and Goldie without the brood. Both our nurturing instincts and our propensity to tease is redirected at our two lil' stinkers, Eames and Eero. But one department which I wish I could improve is in providing the cats a more challenging place to play...

Most cat furniture looks like it was put together using scrap carpet and miscellaneous as-is furniture parts and lumber from Home Depot. Nothing I'd ever want in our home. But then there's people like Sari, who took inspiration from a Modern Cat creation and improved upon it with colourful details that complement the rest of her white and green themed home. Sari's Cat Castle is what every cat dreams of playing and resting upon, while every cat owner hopes to have instead of the usual jute covered monstrosity.

My heart has melted into a puddle. If only I weren't deathly allergic to kitties.

Wow. Very nice!

(And I really like that Gregory uses the first person singular for this article where appropriate...)

Now I am inspired! I agree that most cat furniture is an abomination, but my kitties are begging for something. I could absolutely see something like this! Time for a trip to IKEA to get something to hack!

This is definitely nicer than most of the cheaply-constructed beige monstrosities out there. It's still too big and clunky if you have an apartment. I still think cat shelves and ledges look better and are more versatile (or just make sure the tops of your bookcases, fridge, etc. are clear and accessible to the cats).

Love it, what a hoot! Unfortunately I need to provide some carpet, somewhere, for clawing or they go after my silk area rug. You've definitely given me inspiration to improve the furball's perching places!

I have to have this for my small kitty. My 27 pounder is too fat to take advantage, he wouldn't even fit out one of the little windows!! I love this cat; absolutely beautiful!
