A lot of household cats have a natural instinct to climb (for simply mischievous purposes it seems), and although there are plenty of cat trees out there, almost all look like they came out of a 1973 Sears catalog. They also tend to take up a lot of room. The folks at Cat Livin created "The Climber" with these issues in mind...
A spring loaded design attaches The Climber to any door, with four sisal covered platforms for your frisky felines to use for their frolicking needs. Just be sure not to install this on a door often used or near your collection of Precious Moments figures, lest you find them all on the ground.

hey, that's not a bad idea - but it's still ugly enough that i don't want it :)

Also looks like it came out of a 1973 Sears catalog. A better space saving idea might be to just get rid of the cat.

haha Daily Nuance...good one.
This isn't really a space saver but I would buy it if it cost $20. Hang it in my home office or somewhere out of the main living areas.

I'm thinking that ya'll have never had a cat condo in your space? This really is a great space saver. :-) There's no footprint whatsoever. It doesn't compete with a chair, a cabinet, an end table, etc. It's not much different than a door-hung coat rack for that matter.
I'm not sure that it's supremely attractive, but I think it's a very attractive alternative to clawed furniture. Or those tall tubular, multi-platform cat condos that really do take the otherwise useful space of a nice piece of human furniture.
Wait. It just occurred to me. All of my furniture is cat furniture. Duh.

yeah, all my furniture is cat furniture, too! and yes, i've had huge cat condos, big and small scratchers, sisal this, cardboard that, etc etc. it's all ugly, really.
well, actually, i just spent $150 on this::::

it's nice looking. one cat loves it, one cat is AFRAID OF IT (dumbass). but it LOOKS like it belongs. a plus is that it doesn't have THIS stupid design on it (i've got a few of these around the house):

i'd love something for them to climb, but i'd sooner put up wood shelves for them than get anything CARPETED - ugh!

hmmm.....sooooo tempted to buy this or make something similar for my iguana.....

Nice idea...makes me wish all my doors weren't pocket doors! I saw something similar and less "kitty furniture" looking on the Ikeahacker website...and for a fraction of the cost. :-)

We used to have the same Cosmic Kitty scratcher, kdkaboom! The cartoon kitties with spaced out eyes were awesome.

And what happens when someone opens the door from the other side while the cat is on it?

i wannit! The darker color on the website looks a hell of a lot better than that beige one. Too bad it's 200 bucks. Maybe there's a way to make one home made without it being too ugly. and Michael - Unless you come in like Kramer did or kicking doors open (as I do often), I don't think there'd be a problem..

i was just saying the other day how i feel bad for my cat, because i won't sacrifice taste to get him a horrible carpeted tree. i would have to say this one is slightly better, but still too large and still not great looking.
i still wouldn't buy something that large if i didn't like how it looked.

My cat does the tree lions thing with my spiral stair case to the loft. It cracks me up every time I see her. She's like a mini black panther with her paws hanging over, but more cheerful looking.
