A streamlined version of the ceramic plant stake and inverted bottle trick: simply fill the glass globe with water, cap with the ceramic stake, invert and insert the stake into the soil. The water seeps through the ceramic, watering the plant slowly. You can also use it to care for your plants while you're on vacation. Available through Thirsty Light
Or you can go the self watering container way. I have a couple cheap ones from Walmart (only place in town that had them...) and they work great. you fill it from the bottom an the water wicks up through the potting mix (not soil! no soil! potting mix)
I also have a bigger one i just got but haven't had time to fill it yet.
But so far it's great, fill it every could of days and it does great. The plants are thriving. this is the bigger one, it's a 14" i also have an 11", and they have bigger too. Took this photo this morning.

I know there's too many plants in there too, it's supposed to be for one eight ball zucchini, but they had to live there while i got the big one shipped.
If you don't like the looks of them you could use one of these to turn any pot into a self watering one
