Garden in a Glass

VL_167945.jpgOnline florist Teleflora has plenty of floral traditional arrangements available for delivery. But what we really like are these new Garden in Glass arrangements that combine ivy, arrowhead and a snake plant into a small contained jungle for the desktop or window ledge. Terrarium-style gardens are a great way to bring a little green into the home with their more flexible and easy care schedule; just water occasionally and let the wonders of condensation help plants stay well hydrated.

And of course, you could always just purchase a blown glass vase of your own choice, collect some rocks/pebbles, choose out your own selection of plants and garnish with decorative moss, and you've got a more personalized and budget version of the same idea.

Teleflora also offers other small space interior gardens like the Small Garden Dish and Cactus Garden, both great alternatives to traditional flower arrangements. But what I'm really waiting for is a florist to offer a carnivorous tropical plants arrangement, tastefully arranged, of course.

Nice...it's weird how there are "collective" ideas floating out there. I actually saw many of these types of arrangements in glass containers at the Orange County Room & Board Showroom.

These arrangements are also nice for single plants (mini trees, succulents).

I believe the arrangements at Room and Board also did the rocks and soil in nice layers for an "ant farm" effect (at least to me).

Very cool heads up on Teleflora (time to get my wallet out again...)

Don't count on getting that delivered anywhere outside of a major metropolitan area. We tried sending a beautiful modern arrangement to a friend in the suburbs of Denver, and she got some godawful grandma basket because the florists in flyover country don't stock this stuff.
