apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Woolly Pocket Gardening Company

If the name doesn't draw you in, the appealing pockets of the Woolly Pocket Gardening Company sure will. The first time we heard about Woolly Pockets, we hopped over to their website and were instantly hooked. By this time, we recognized the owners of Woolly Pocket--brainchild of Sherry and Miguel from Marvimon and Smog Shoppe. Already huge fans of their design style, we're trying to decide which color Wee Wally to buy (oh yes, there is a cute name for each type of Woolly Pocket)...

060909woolly-01.jpgThere's Woolly Wally One, all the way up to Woolly Wally Five. They've also got a Woolly Meadow, a Woolly Ridge and a Woolly Knoll. You get to decide which style is right for you (those that plop down horizontally or ones that can be hung vertically). Each pocket is made from recycled bottles (love) which retain moisture and wetness leaving your space clean. We like the variety of hanging them indoors or out to create a living wall (great for lofts). Or, if you're like us, portability is key for apartment living and a few Woolly Patches will work wonders. But honestly, you have to take a tour of the Woolly Pocket website--half dressed folks surrounded by Woolly Pockets (awesome). Plus, you can check out photos of customers using Woolly Pockets in their own homes for inspiration!

Might be a nice alternative to a window box. These are pretty neat. I like the meadow and knoll.

Very cool, but I'm nervous about watering something porous. My inclination would be to underwater and that wouldn't be good for those lush tropicals.

they are beautiful and very organic. What message are the nude models sending though. . . that they'd rather go naked so that their plants can have pants?

Overwatering Woolly Pocket only makes the sides sweat a little, but won't hurt your tropicals - your tropicals are going to love not being root-bound like in standard pots! And anyways Woolly Pockets have a built in moisture barrier to help protect your carpet or furniture from getting wet.

They're not yet sold in stores, only online on the website.
