RAD'S Cool and Clever Furniture Designs!
Austin

Last week we mentioned local Austin furniture company Ryan Anderson Design in the post about Aviary's new in-store wine bar. Sleek and with a sense of humor, RAD's furniture pieces are a statement in cool modern design...

RAD's mission is to design and build functional furniture that's also fun to use. They've got pieces that are good-looking and can be used as a grill or chalkboard, for example. Our favorite piece has to be the Grill Cube, a small, cube-shaped concrete piece that doubles as both a grill and a seat (when not in use as a grill, of course). We think the Grill Cube's compact size would be a perfect addition to a modern and small outdoor area.

Combining aesthetics with eco-friendliness, RAD also takes a thoughtful approach with their designs, using recyclable and reusable materials like welded steel, wood, and concrete. As evidenced by the photos, RAD'S furniture can withstand the outdoors and look equally as great indoors. It would seem even kids and pets are no match to the durability of RAD's pieces. Reminding us slightly (both in material and indoor/outdoor use) of another great Austin furniture maker, Sarabi Studio, we're starting to think Austin's getting pretty good at producing awesome modern outdoor furniture. RAD works on custom projects for clients, and you can of course find some of their work at local store (and wine bar!) Aviary.

What do you think of Ryan Anderson Design's furniture pieces? (Pretty, ahem, rad, don't you think?) Would you ever use a bench or seat that doubles as a grill? How about a chalkboard table? Let us know what you think about RAD'S furniture!

YES! I would definitely welcome these creative designs into my life. I think the furniture industry is sadly lacking creative unusual stuff and kudos to RAD for offering new ideas.

So great to see awesome, beautiful, rustic modern designs for the outdoors (as well as indoors).

Yes! I love it! I love that it all looks old and worn, which adds a bit of warmth, but the lines are clean and modern. I'll take two of everything please.

Bitdot: Move to Austin :) It's the loveliest place on earth, brimming with creativity. You will never want to leave.

I especially like the idea of sitting right in front of someone while they chop wood by the light of the grill.
