Kara's Summer Colors Memories
Room for Color - West #2

thumbs up

Name: Kara
Location: San Diego, California
Type of Home: Owned Condo

Color Inspiration: After living in rented apartments for a number of years, I couldn't wait to paint the walls when my husband and I bought our first condo. We had justified our colorless apartment living by traveling every chance we could. Over the years, I had amassed a collection of beautifully vibrant pillowcases and textiles. Once we moved into our condo, I finally had a place where I could display our treasures. The inspiration for our use of color was from a wooden plaque that I purchased on our honeymoon...

Give Kara a THUMBS UP if you think this room belongs in the finals!

Siam Sunset

Color Inspiration continued: It was of a bright golden Buddha with a grayish purple starlit sky in the background (the plaque can be found in front of the mirror in one of the photos). It reminds me of the hot summer nights we spent at the night bazaars in Thailand, climbing up temples in Cambodia and wandering through the casbahs in Morocco. Although our travels will be fewer and far between now that we have a mortgage, our bedroom will serve to remind us of our adventures.

Colors Used: The lighter color walls are Valspar LA115 Ironwood and the wall behind the bed is Valspar Gray Earth LA116.

Color Tip: Don't be shy. Experiment with unlikely color combinations and you may be pleasantly surprised.

mmm that purple gray-ish color is just gorgeous. That was one of my favorite matboard colors when I was a framer. I couldn't get away from it! :)

very soothing color scheme. that red cabinet is fantastic. a kilim would go well where the white bathmat is now.

I love everything about this room! Totally my style. The curtain on the closet is especially excellent. Love the far east flavor, and the cute doggie :)

very pretty colors. is that a rental? you should frame that tapestry OR weight it and hang it...and the mirror too. that would pull it all together.
