thumbs up

Name: Kyle

Updated Mid-Century

Nicely balanced color scheme. Works well with the MCM furniture. I like how the vertical stripes break up that loooong wall.

Great work. If I didn't have so much hanging on the wall now I would consider the stripes at my own home! I just sent a couple of mid century chairs like these to get reupholstered. I can't wait to place them in my living room.

Love the palette but find it to be more mid century re-do than mid century moderne. Your furniture is amazing and the wall is bold and wonderful but some how it all seems rather cold and not engaging. This is a house I really want to see a house tour of but not one that is the winner of the contest.

Wow! What an inspiring room! You
really have an understanding of color and how to play them off each other in a mature way. So many times colorful rooms tend to look like a McDonald's playland. But
not yours! Can I come live there??

Wow! Thank you everyone for your kind words!

I never thought it would get this type of response.

To answer a few questions, I did paint the stripes myself along with a good friend who encouraged me to finish.

The sofa is vintage. It was rescued from a thrift store and I had it reupholstered.

I am not an interior designer by trade, but would love to be one. To all who would like me to do their place, I think I can fit you into my schedule.

And yes, my total bad. I apologize for my orthography. I meant "palette" as in color palette. Not "palete" as in the misspelling of palate, AKA the roof of one's mouth.

Okay...I completely missed out on the voting for this..boohoo..with the exception of the dining room, this is a perfect submission for the contest about COLOR..yayyyy...great, great job on the decor; it's very difficult decorating a long narrow room and you've done a remarkable job, love the lack of clutter too...the striped wall is so good - it's the colour combinations and hues that do it justice.

Thanks, smoothsailing. I appreciate the compliment.

I would agree that the photo of the dining area in that photo might seem a bit bland. However, that space is only about 10 feet wide. Bold color opposite that wall might have been a bit overwhelming. I felt like it needed some balance.

Perhaps a house tour is in order! Wink, wink, AT.

Thanks for the kind words, ryumama. I'd be happy to let you know where I got those items. The dining table was made by a friend of mine, inspired by the Saarinen table. And the chairs were from an old prop shop in the OC that was getting rid of stuff.

I think you can find the chairs online if you google, "swivel cup chair."
