Colors Used: We used a range of timber tones, an apple green Chinese drum stool, and a quilt of colors from our science-fiction / fantasy book collection.

Color Tip: Pair colors up with timber tones to anchor them, and take photos of the combination, looking at the photos out of the space to give you an unbiased perspective.

I think your pics shouldn't all be of the same wall.

So disappointing to only have photos of one (ok two) bookcases.

Agreed. I love what I see, but I can't give a thumbs up for one hallway.

disappointing in a big way...bibliophiles have tons more books!
agree with above poster...more rooms, more views, more books would have prompted me to give a thumbs up,maybe.

A bookshelf constitutes an entry to this "colour" contest? The walls are white......hmmm, sorry for the no thumbs up.

Thanks for your comments everyone!

Our home isn't quite so done yet, and we're a bit new to the whole interior decor blog thing, so please forgive the views! We've got a few more photos of the hallway and the adjacent bedroom on our blog here:

http://postchic.blogspot.com/2009/10/peek-into-our-bedroom-work-in-progress.html

but they're definitely a work-in-progress.

we're just happy to be featured and kinda excited. Our house isn't quite the collage of colour we'd love it to be, but we figured since the bookshelf does take up about 40% of the vertical space of our entry, and the Celtic leadlight door another 30%, we might just scrape through.... but you guys are sharp!

Thanks for the feedback.

Painted walls are not the only way to introduce color. I think the books serve that purpose beautifully and I am happy to see them on display, as they should be.

Where on earth did you find that coat rack? I have a dead willow in my backyard and have half a mind to replicate your piece with one of its beautiful, gnarly branches!
