thumbs up
Name: Suzy & Adam
Location: Los Angeles, California
Type of Home: loft
Color Inspiration: We choose this shade of blue for the walls shortly after purchasing the saffron-orange cabinet. They're cheerful while still soothing and it looks great when contrasted with bright shots of color.
Give Suzy & Adam a THUMBS UP if you think this room belongs in the finals!
Thumbs Up Voting is only activated for 48 Hours — so don't delay!
Color Inspiration continued: We do a lot of cooking and entertaining, so we spend a lot of time in the kitchen and what seems like many, many hours washing dishes. Instead of staring at a blank wall while standing at the sink we hung up a print by Anne Silber we'd picked up at a prop house sale. That was the beginning of our landscape collection. The other pieces are from thrift stores, etsy.com and the tiny watercolor Suzy purchased on a family trip to Italy after her high school graduation.
Our cookbook collection inadvertently brings a colorful punch to the kitchen. The vintage and contemporary tomes provide both graphic color and culinary inspiration.
Colors Used: Paint: Behr, "Rivers Edge", (510O-3)
Color Tip: As in many homes, crowds seem to gather in our kitchen - we like to think that this is not only because that's where you'll find the host and hostess scurrying around, but because it is a bright and inviting space. The color you live with should be happy and make you glad to be home.

I love this! It looks cozy, and I particularly like the choice of wall color and the use of industrial elements.
If the owners are reading this, where did you get your bar stools?

Beautiful color. Thumbs up. (Random thought: Those stop-short walls in lofts always make me think of a movie or TV show set.)

Thanks everyone!
@AgentDarkApple The stools are the 'Spin Barstools' from Crate & Barrel: http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=900&f=2617&q=stool&fromLocation=Search&DIMID=400001&SearchPage=1
@momalamb Thanks! The stainless was custom made by a friend to cover the back of the IKEA cabinets we used to create the island. :)
@abs Not sure about the origin of the shelves as they were there when we moved in... I'll see what I can find out!
@rexrayfan Totally! We like that the kitchen 'floats' in the middle of the space because we've been able to create a bedroom behind the kitchen. That leaves the rest of the space open - which is great for entertaining!

That blue is the last color I would think of using in the kitchen, but I admit it works nicely. It goes well with the stainless steel, and the black, and the orange. Well done.

Can we talk about the coffee/tea stain artwork in picture no. 3? Win.

You better invite me over for dinner if you win.

I voted b/c I suspect Suzy is the person who referred us to the amazing Bottega Louie restaurant and this was my way to thank her! :)

@BassoonBuffoon Thanks! I actually the artwork with wine, but the way they dried makes it look like coffee or tea. I just love them - thanks for noticing!

I voted for you partially because I think you're in our building. Are you guys in the Molino Street lofts? Great paint color! We have the same kitchen and your color is an inspiration.
