Roundup: Tea Towels That Will Inspire You To Dry The Dishes
Melbourne

022409ttowel01.jpg After hearing regrets from our grandparents about never using things they received as wedding presents because they were saving them for “good”, we made a decision to not save things for those elusive special occasions anymore. Admittedly we did go back on our decision after receiving some particularly nice tea towels. They sat in the bottom of our drawer for a few weeks until we snapped out of it and found that we actually enjoyed drying the dishes when the tea towel was so darn pretty. Ever since we've had a bit of a thing for tea towels and have rounded up some of our favorite ones from Australia.

022409ttowel02.jpg Limited edition art and tea towels combined, what more can a girl ask for? Third Drawer Down is one of our favorite places to shop for house warming gifts. Crumbs in Beard, Family Portrait & Pappa all AU$40.

022409ttowel03.jpg The lovely girls at Mozi have a sweet range of 9 tea towels and for the next 2 months 50c of every $1 will be donated to the Victorian Bushfire Victims. Il Gatto & Midnight Peacocks both AU$24.95

022409ttowel04.jpg If you prefer a theme through your kitchen Dandi do great packs of 3 tea towels. Marshmallow & Chocolate both $19.95.

022409ttowel05.jpg Okay, so these aren't technically Australian made but they are available in Australia. Skarva AU$29, Love Birds AU$24 & Lindelov AU$22 all from Nordic Fusion.

022409ttowel06.jpg Mansikka AU$24, Pine Tree AU$19.50 & Angels AU$9 all from Nordic Fusion.

022409ttowel07.jpg While we've never had the opportunity to travel overseas we can trick all our friends into thinking we have with these touristy vibe tea towels from Lovely Lovely. London, Las Vegas & Tokyo all AU$29 each from Tiny Bird.

Have you been keeping something for "good" for too long?

Do you have any tea towels that inspire you to dry the dishes?

Does anyone know where to get "plain, old" tea towels? Ones that I would actually feel ok using?

I've been hunting vintage tea towels on Etsy. I have a nice little variety of old towels now. I love them. I can get each one for just a few dollars. I appreciate that the people who had them before saved them for special occasions, because they look brand new. :) However, I intend to actually use them.

Voughts, someone posted awhile back that Ikea has tea towels with red edging on them. They looked really cute, but plain, and the prices were great. I can't vouch for them though because I've never been to Ikea.

I got some plain, solid color, cotton tea towels from a hardware store home section, cheap for a pack of 3. They are by nowdesigns. I think you can find them online but their website is wholesale only.

These are organic (I guess mine are not) and go for about $8.

Classic linen ones cost a bit more:

But I think they last a lot longer and are nicer to use than cotton. You shouldn't save things just because they cost more than a dollar store dish towel.

It's my impression these type of towels are not going to be too hard to find, but I could be wrong. No ducks or grapes or stripe that doesn't match your kitchen colors, could be a slight challenge. Target has plain white bar cloths if that'll cover it.

All so gorgeous you just want to frame them, not use them!

I love Nordic Fusion's store at Manly!!

"Plain old tea towels" can be found at supermarkets, at least here in Aus.
