Close Up on Hans Wegner

Some of our favorites Wegner designs. From left to right, top to bottom: Wishbone, Valet, Peacock, Teddy bear, Ox, Daybed 268, Shell
Yesterday, Rebecca noted that DWR's got bios of 101 of design's rock stars up on its website. One of our favorites is Hans Wegner. From a favorite small sofa at a friend's house that turned out to be his, to the Wishbone and Papa Bear chairs, we'd love a large home just so that we could incorporate a few of his pieces without our home looking like a furniture showroom. Here's a look at some of his iconic products as seen in recent posts and house tours...

What's by Wegner in the "Elise and Darren's Modernist Sensibility" photo?

As much as I appreciate Wegner's creations, I have a problem with the Papa Bear Chair. I don't know, I find it too dated, to obviously "1950s", Fred Flintstone Era. However his wooden organic chairs are really gorgeous and timeless.

I just bought a Papa Bear chair last month for $65. I'm salivating waiting for it to come back from the upholsterer.

I love the Wing chair. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. :)

Daniel Poitiers,
The Wegner piece is IN the house tour but I understand how that's confusing. Thanks for pointing it out.

Alexis,
Fixed the link.
