Round Up:11 Lamps Under $75

Last week we rounded up sofas. This week we're looking at lamps. We wanted to find ones that are reasonably priced enough that you might even be able to afford 2, for a console behind your sofa or one for either side of your bed, so we set ourselves a budget of $75, about half of the going rate for a lamp. They range across a selection of styles and are easily available anywhere in the US. Got some you love that we left out? Share the information in the comments...

Lamps Plus is a lighting superstore. Here, mixed in with the weird novelty lamps, you'll find copies of designer lamps, good basic lamps, a selection of simple shades, ceiling fans and a good price range from $20 (lava lamp anyone?) on up:

  • White Moderne Droplet Table Lamp: with its nod to Mid-Century lines would fit easily into a settings. There are other versions available: black base, copper base, a silver base version with a large variety of patterned shades and a mini version but we like the white best for its flexibility. $69.99
  • Retro style stacked wood ovals lamp base: you'll have to buy the shade separately but we like this lamp's retro feel. $39.98. Spend a little more and get the version with shade
  • In a neutral room, a pop of colour can be just what's needed. This Kito Orange Table Lamp would be great in a contemporary or modern home and cheery next to a bed. Prefer another colour? It also come in aqua, lime green, and red
  • Looking for a black lamp? The Hajur Black Table Lamp would be striking in an all white bedroom. $74.91

Target has a large selection of lamps. You'll have to weed through a lot of junk but if you're looking for a simple, classic lamp and your budget is tight, this is a good bet.

In between the faux-handmade decor, Pier One has some surprising finds: a great selection of sturdy glassware, a good supply of baskets, inexpensive ceramics and a few lamps that we liked:

  • The Paiden Lamp has an interesting wood base and an tan linen shade that makes it work well with eclectic or mid-century furnishings. There's also a version with zebra and red shades. $45.00
  • Here's a lamp for a modern home. We like the rounded base on this Black and Silver Lamp. $70
  • Try the Crackle Luster Lamp in a variety of settings and see how well it adapts. $65

Other sources you might try: Ikea (though we find their table sized lamps a little fragile), Cost Plus, Craig's List (our favorite option), flea markets & tag sales.

I own this lamp https://www.target.com/gp/detail.html?asin=B000XJS1QI&colid=158BCLVF88UY6&coliid=I10BMKNRW4YEDP&bckreg=list and I LOVE it. Pay attention to the measurements, though, as the shade is a smidge larger than I initially thought!

There are only 10 lamps listed--what's the twisty blue ginger jar lamp at the end of the first row?

These Roundups make it hard to figure out what is what. Can you put a caption on the pictures or one of those rollover balloons? I have no idea which lamp is which. Thanks.
