September is pet month at Apartment Therapy and we wanted to highlight some cool, modern, colorful and textural bird feeders. We've posted many times about these fun accents and thought we'd roundup a few more. Check out some bird feeders that work in modern spaces after the jump.
Whether you have a bird for a pet or simply like to see these little guys come by for a quick visit, bird feeders can be a colorful and cool addition to your outdoor space. In recent years, the design of bird feeders has definitely stepped it up a notch. Part bird feeder and part design accent.

Eva Solo Bird Table $199

For more bird feeder inspiration:
I just got the Eva Solo feeder as a gift. It's been up for two weeks and not a single bird has figured it out. I used finch food...maybe other species consider that discriminatory?

As a child I always wanted a bird feeder - for those of you who are bird feeding experts, what's the best place to put one? What type of seeds should you buy? I've got neglected neighbourhood birds perched on my backyard cherry tree that would love it if I installed a bird feeder!

These look great! I usually do the pine cone schmeared with peanut butter and birdseed.

I have the Orb feeder in a nice cherry red. I like it, but if you get a lot of birds like we do, you will want more than one. It doesn't hold a lot, and most birds we have seen don't like to share the space so only one can feed at a time.

If you can hang the feeder someplace not widely disturbed/visible they seem to prefer a bit of privacy. And it takes weeks/months for them to get brave enough to venture forth. They even get spooked for a few weeks when I refill either feeder. We started with a generic mix of seed, the no-waste mixes are nice as they keep the shells from decorating your space under the feeder. If you're having trouble enticing them, try a suet block/feeder, that seems to pull them in much faster. I guess we all prefer a little fat!

Thanks for the tips! I hadn't thought about this before now, but they could be scared by the back door opening and closing when I let out the dogs (who also could be frightening them, even though they wouldn't/couldn't do anything). I have another, more secluded spot that I think they will like much better.

You guys missed the best one! It's a bit pricey but is made of teak and stainless, so it will last a long time.

Anyone know of some modern feeders and/or houses that look like modern houses that are reasonably priced.
