Because we like to wear the same type of clothing on a daily basis, the jewelry we wear tends to also stay the same. We hardly ever take off our necklace and wear a ring that our grandmother passed down to us--same story with the earrings. While we like to wear the same thing everyday, it wouldn't be difficult to switch our jewelry up a bit--if only it was displayed. Because of our small space, our jewelry boxes live in the top corner of our closet (not the best place to keep our bling if we wanted to actually wear it). We've rounded up some creative jewelry display options (to better our chances of accessing our gems) after the jump.

We're definitely get a great vibe from this idea using a branch to display jewelry. You could also spray paint the branch white and put it in a vase if you'd rather not hang it on the wall.

This is another magazine article we've been hanging onto for inspiration. We'd love to incorporate this jewelry display idea into our space.

Jennifer uses a miniature mannequin to display earrings and broaches and adds a corkboard above for necklaces and bracelets.

This is a great storage idea (not only because it looks clean and neat) but it's also utilizing wall space which saves space in a small bedroom.

Most of us have ice trays in our home (and don't ever use them). This is a great idea to corral small bits like rings and earrings.

A size up from the ice tray, the muffin tin can also corral small items. Here, they're mixing it up, storing jewelry and hair accessories.

I love the branch, but how would you fasten it to the wall? I am thinking about doing something similar to my ceiling (to hang votives from) but have no idea where to start

with my obssesive necklace collection, I do not think any branch would carry it.
I usually keep them in one of the towel racks in the bathroom, not only they nicely add color but also they give me the opportunity to accessorize my outfit every day, rather than having the same gold necklace for a week.
Same thing goes for my earring collection... Instead of towel rack, I use Belt Hanger and display it on the wall.
Maybe I should invite AT for a house tour..

This make me think that I could hang my ikea branch on the wall. How would I do that?
I recently got the cutest vintage wooden jewelry box- it got plenty of drawers, hooks, ring holder etc...I am just trying to find out how to affix it to the wall.

I have a couple of those wire racks meant for neckties or belts that mount to the wall, for necklaces. I keep them in the walk-in closet next to a mirror. I also have a chest meant for silverware (from a thrift store, decoratively painted by me) for other jewelry. Among other storage systems! (I make and collect artist jewelry, so I have a lot!)

Years ago, this is how I solved my problem of having a fabulous jewelry collection but not-so-fabulous space to show it off in;
In short, it's basically a wall-frame with nails spaced out over fabric and hammered into the front. Sans the glass of course.
I cover what would be the glass front, replaced by thin cut plywood, with a cute patterned fabric, systematically measure out and place the nails, and voila!
It looks great hanging on the wall next to a vanity/dressing area, or inside your closet or bathroom.

Aside from a small Cloisonné dish on my bathroom sink for my my watch and the earrings I wear daily, I keep my sparkley things in boxes -- I don't like to have them displayed. I've got two laquer red jewelry boxes and three carved, simply stained boxes into which everything is sorted. Which leads me to this suggestion for storing baubles. Why not a clear lucite box? It keeps everything contained, but I think would make a fun visual for those who need to see it all at once?

hanako66 - i used an old branch, sanded and 15lb test fishing line to create a votive chandelier (i used cb2 glass balls for holding the votives, but anything would work really)
to attach to the ceiling i used eye hooks. it worked really well... pictures are over here (not a self promoting thing- just where the pics are): http://conflictedthimble.blogspot.com/2008/10/swimming-in-fish-bowl.html
i like the branches as well - do you just drill through them? wouldn't they split?

Doesn't anybody use a jewelry box anymore?

Luckily I have a walk in closet. I have about 50 of those little hooks for teacups screwed into the wall where all my necklaces and scarves hang. Any old scarves with pulls in them are for my earrings.

I use the corkboard (just a simple one with a frame) for my necklaces and earrings.
In my old apartment (with a black and white bedroom), I painted it white, then took a piece of lace and laid it over it, and then spray painted black over it, took the lace off, and wah-lah a nice lacey pattern.
In my current apartment I did a hot pink and yellow stripe using tape.
Then of course you lay out your necklaces and mark where and how many nails to hammer in, and you are all set.

I used an old glove form for my necklaces, an old tiered cake plate for my earrings, and my rings/pins and bracelets have their own small boxes. I used to do the picture frame thing, but it was just for earrings. Instead of plywood I just had some mesh-y fabric that I stuck the earrings through.

I have an expansive stash of jewellery of such size that my mother either wants me to open a jewellery store.
I do try to keep everything together at a little 'altar', so to speak.
I store my beloved pieces on nice decorative hooks and an old porcelain glove form for neclaces, a phrenology head and two french ex-shop fitting hat stands I found in a junk shop for hats, miniature japanese cabinet....and littered around the house on decorative plates or japanese lacquer ware bowls.
Come to think of it, maybe Mum is right.
But the best idea I've had so far in to place assorted pieces on a cake stand - it elevates 'favourites', allows room to stash bigger pieces or other dishes of jewellery underneath on the tabletop. I know a few friends have hooked to it and raided a few op-shops in search of tiered stands to do the same thing. Handy if you rent and can't put holes in the walls to hand things, and it works.

hey - heather with the branch here ... to fasten it to the wall, i drilled a small pilot hole through the branch stem and used a small screw to seal the deal. i haven't had any trouble with the branch stems drying out to the point of breaking or anything!

I got a tree-shaped jewelry rack, similar to this http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_gallery_6&listing_id=17470131 from Etsy, although mine is wall mounted. Highly recommended.

I have five full jewelry boxes and my bracelets don't even fit into that! They are in an ugly IKEA fabric box. Currently they take most of the top of my sizeable dresser and look a bit messy because I leave them open (they are too full to close well/ the one with necklace hooks is very hard to close.)
I need a better way to store the boxes but have them easily assessible. I like having them easily reachable when picking out clothes but the mess is driving me crazy! Ideas?
