Roundup: More Daffodil Bouquets

040209_daffs.jpgDaffodils are popping up everywhere and when Trader Joes has them for sale a a $1.99 a bunch you know we're gonna stock up. Faith even showed us some her favorite arrangements earlier this week. We often go with a simple bouquet that just involves snipping off a bit of the stem and throwing them in a pretty vase. But as with all things there are a lot of ways to incorporate these spring blossoms into your home. So start filling your home with springtime life and fresh cut (affordable) flowers and jump below for some of our favorite daffodil arrangements around the web:

040209_monkeys.jpgCan't actually tell if these are, in fact, daffodils, but love the idea of filling unusal containers to the brim with full daffodils. These are from MIchelle Workman who posted a great tutorial on arranging flowers.

My TJ's daffodils lasted for 5 days and were 10 for $1.50. Best deal of the week - must get more!

Daffs have calcium oxalate crystals in their sap, so don't put them in a mixed bouquet and expect the other flowers to last. My TJs has them for $1.29, so you can stock up.

of course, they are poisonous to cats. So none for me, unfortunatley. These are beautiful, especially Faith's bouquet.

Every April the Canadian Cancer Society sells daffodils to raise money in the fight against cancer. Cheery happy flowers for a great cause :)

Tara77, you beat me to it :) A great cause, indeed! I know a lot of provinces/territories have Daffodil Days going on right now. You should be able to find sale dates and locations on the Canadian Cancer Society website:

You know, I saw the comments about daffodils poisoning other flowers in arrangements, so I kept an eye on the arrangements I had going around the house. But they didn't seem to wilt any quicker - they all lasted about 10 days.

I wonder if maybe they only have that effect on certain flowers? Or if perhaps the Whole Foods' cut flower food neutralized the daffodils? I'm curious now.

Once you cut the daffodils and give them a chance to leach out their sap (in a separate container of water), you can then go ahead and mix them in mixed bouquets without much harm to the other flowers.

I just bought some at Trader Joes for 1.29! I love them mixed in with the tulips or other red flowers. I have mine right next to my computer and the smell is perfect. It feels like spring now. My mother has an amazing collection of colored glass bud vases and every year she fills them with bulbs (most paper whites) to bring a little spring to her cold New England townhouse.
