Roundup: Outdoor Lanterns
Getting Ready For Spring

031109_lanterns01.jpgWe are looking forward to the arrival of Spring and enjoying the outdoors more. (Yes, it does get cold here in Southern California too.) We spotted some pretty lanterns the other day and were inspired to roundup a few to consider for your own space. Check 'em out after the jump!

I would love to put lanterns on my balcony (we just moved in to an apartment that has one!) but I have a problem: I am TERRIFIED of moths, and in dry CO, we get tons in the summer. Anyone have any suggestions for keeping them away while still having light outside? I would appreciate anything.

I want a large moroccan style lantern above my outdoor dining setting, I wouldn't light it often but I just think since I have a 100 year old dining setting outside and it's rather delicate and pretty looking it would go well...

Staar84 -- you can find citronella candles or oil lamps (which repel many flying bugs) to fit just about any of these lanterns. You ought to be able to find them easily: hardware store, drugstore, Target, maybe even your grocery. If that doesn't do the trick (and if your apartment building allows it), you could put up matchstick blinds or a curtain of gauze/mesh/mosquito netting to keep them out.

And I'm with you. Moths = ick, ICK.

Oh hey, I have that *exact* little Casablanca lantern in white...but I got mine from PaperSource. Where, apparently, I paid twice as much as Z Gallerie [loooove] charges. Sigh.

Cost Plus World Market has some good ones too usually.

I like the paper ones - they would look so cute in a magnolia tree. Just like the Blue Bayou restaurant at Disneyland or something.

These lanterns are gorgeous, they will definitely add some Moroccan spice to your designs. In case you want something more upscale, check out this: http://www.sainttropezboutique.us/products/lighting/lanterns.aspx
