Good Looking & Affordable Rugs

8-17-target.jpgHas anyone else noticed rugs are getting better looking? Maybe it was due to our hero Angela Adams finally making a rug that didn’t look like it belonged to our Grandma, but there are some darned good looking rugs out there and a couple of them are in the $100 price range.

Yes, we've seen a couple in person and they really are good. Target is on it of course (top rug), as well as our friends at CB2 (bottom 2 rugs).

We do have one question, however: has anyone purchased one of these affordable rugs and if so how is it holding up? Got an answer? Let us know...

can anyone explain why a 6'x9' rug can cost up to $3000? Haven't humans done the R&D on this technolgy about 5000 years ago? These things should be $200 tops

I so wanted the Angela Adams Island rug but instead I bought a 5'x8' rug for our living room from Kmart about 4 months ago. It was only about $80 and so far so good. Although we did have to take back the first one we got because it wouldn't lay flat. But the second one did. When we vaccum it, a few fibers come up but no bald spots yet. It doesn't get much traffic except for our dog likes to shed all over it.

I just recently quit my job of 5 years and went back to school and at the same time my fiance and I moved in together in a house in San Gabriel, CA so right now budget is key. I searched sites for hours looking for rugs that would be affordable and finally found this one at Kmart. I can't find the digicam right now or else I'd post a pic. I looked at Kmart's site and couldn't find it. It has a brown background with large floral/leaf/paisly design in tan/light blue/sage green/rusty orange. I love the colors and I made matching throw pillows from placemats I found at a linen outlet store.

We bought this one -- http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_7/601-2940047-6668958?%5Fencoding=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000BUILFU -- in April and it's holding up way, way better than anything I've owned from Ikea. Very minimal pilling, and when I knocked over a can of Coke on it last month, the liquid came right back up with a good blot like it was water.

i've had several runners from target over the past several years. they hold up really well, esp with 2 dogs and being placed at the entrance to the place. they do get filthy (because they are at the entrance) and do not clean well. and by not very well, i mean not at all.
having said that, they are cheap enough for me to be an ugly consumer and just throw them out when they are really grody. which has the added benefit of providing an opportunity for a whole new design/rug to ruin. i recommend this method.

Hi Guys,

I have a carpet from Ikea and I've gone to the Target stores to see the ones they carry too. Honestly, the quality is terrible. They are awfully scratchy and thin. I threw out the Ikea one after a few months. I'm thinking of purchasing a CB2 one online, does anyone know if it's thick and soft, or more like the Ikea and Target ones? Thanks!

Unfortunately, the off-gassing of most rugs just about kills me--cheap or otherwise. That's why I end up doing undyed jute or other natural fiber rugs. Boring but at least I, and my low-to-the-ground four-leggeds, can breathe.

I bought a 6'x8' rug from Target for around $100 about 3 years ago and it still looks great! I have two 60lbs dogs and the rug has been used in living rooms/offices and has been moved to several different houses/apartments and I am so shocked at how great it still looks! I have also had no bald spots appear!

I have the runner version of that Target rug. I love it. It seems to be holding up really well.

My dog loves it too apparently.
