Look! Small Tufenkian Artisan Carpets

121908Tufenkian.jpgHere's a way to enjoy a smaller, more affordable version of the luxury of one of Tufenkian Artisan Carpets in the kitchen, front door entry or bathroom. The Tufenkian showrooms in Melrose are offering one-of-a-kind and sample 2’ x 3’ rugs designed by Barbara Barry, Clodagh, Mark Pollack, Kevin Walz or Vicente Wolf starting at $175...

121908landingpage2x3.jpgYou can preview their selection here at their site, but you'll need to visit a showroom to purchase the discounted selection of samples and one-of-a-kind wool and silk rugs. We're personally smitten with the Mod Temptation Blue by Mark Pollack. Dreamy and would make a great holiday gift...for ourselves!

*starting* at 175 for a 2x3???

Sometimes I think AT should change its name to DWR.

shalgal: well, to be fair, not everything is made for a discount/mainstream market (or for my own budget, for that matter), nor is everything made with the same quality. Sometimes the best deal is to buy something moderately expensive, but that lasts the longest and is appreciated the whole time, instead of the throw away products most big retailers sell to us at an affordable price.

$175 for a fine rug doesn't seem absurd when you consider how they're made. Yes, it's not chump change, but I thought it was a worthy offering for those who want a small bit of luxury in their home, since the holidays are often a time when we do consider a bit of splurging...hopefully as a surprise gift for another.

Post something expensive and well-made, and you get slammed for being elitist. Post something affordable and cute, and you get slammed for supporting [knock-offs / big box corporations / international labor / disposable mindset]. I need to just quit reading the comments.
