Los Angeles Organizing Awards Event this Friday

Do we get an award for having a color coded shower?

An awards show for organizing? You betcha. The task that only those of us that know the true meaning of organizing can understand and appreciate is finally getting some recognition. This friday marks the end of National Get it Organized Month and there's an awards show to prove it.

Hosted by the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers and The Container Store. The gala will honor "the best in the organizing industry, including professional organizers ... products and services that help consumers and businesses organize themselves and their information, manage their time and control habits that can lead to clutter and chaos."

Our favorite part? That Linda Koopersmith will be a guest speaker. She's that organizer on Clean House (which is our total guilty pleasure). There is actually a whole slew of great guest speakers and Sherri Shephard is the host (maybe she'll dish on Barbara?). It's all going down at the Luxe Hotel on Sunset Boulevard in Bel Air tomorrow night. Read about all the awards and honorees here or buy a ticket for the event here.

Eep! Why do you have so many things in your shower?!

I wanted to get rid of branding in my shower:

agree with gretchen - the last thing I want my shower to feel like is the reminder of all the commercials on tv - all combined in a visual reminder. I buy only aveda and origins - and yet I hate to keep the original bottles - they all go in the neat dispenser attached to the wall.... neat and clean

Eep! is right. Had no idea our shower would be a topic! But yes, especially in this picture there are quite a few products. We normally turn the labels away so it's just colors, but we've also been working on using up some of them so that they can be recycled and not replaced!

Gretchen, your shower is beautiful, ho do you have so little?

Awards show? I hope Sean Young shows up during the acceptance speeches. Oh wait, she's in rehab...

Um, OCD much? Not to mention the waste to the environment. Try buying one of the conditioning shampoo bars from Lush, along with one of their exceptional soaps and voila! No trash, no tacky metal caddy and no need for ghastly shower gels.

It looks fine the way you've colour sorted them.

I was sufficiently impressed by some of the products made by a company called SimpleHuman to order one of their trashcans. But it was their shower caddy that really caught my eye for it's innovative design. Check it out at http://www.simplehuman.com/products/bathroom-organization/shower-caddies/shower-caddy.html
