If you're looking for "Main Street USA," Old Town Orange pretty much fits the bill. It's a classic slice of vintage Americana, complete with a round-about and a diner/soda shop. It's constantly being used for film locations and this weekend, you can get a chance to see some of the homes that are in this historic area.
The tours are this Saturday, October 27 and 28, 2007. The self-guided walking tour from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. starts at the Woman's Club of Orange, located at 121 South Center Street near the corner of Chapman and Center in Orange. Neighborhood parking is available and a trolley is available to a few select locations. Tickets are $20 and available at the Woman's Club of Orange. You can call 714.639.6840. Afterwards, make sure you stroll through the area because there is a TON of great antique shops. Click here for all the details and directions.

Orange also has three Eichler neighborhoods for you mid-century modern fans (no tours that I know of though). Beautiful collections of homes off Fairhaven, Fairhills and Fairmeadows. If you're lucky, you might stumble upon an open house!

I used to spend much of my time there since I went to Chapman University. I liked to study by the fountain, at the Ugly Mug, or at Diedrichs.
