110108_weego6.jpgThe newest store in the Weego Home family just opened up in the old Moca Store space on Main Street in Santa Monica. Besides carrying modern nursery and kids' room furniture and accessories, true to its stylish roots "where modern and stylish doesn't have to be serious" Weego Baby presents a number of current decor ideas you can apply to rooms that aren't nurseries:

So yes they carry all manner of modern and whimsical modern beds, cribs and bedding from places like Casa Kids, dwell studio and notNeutral and of course they've got great accessories, toys and artwork from Onethread and Thomas Paul that are bright and fun while staying simple and modern. We would have been disappointed if they hadn't had all that, after all their Weego Home outpost further down on Main has give inspires us every time we step foot inside. Conveniently they've also got most everything for sale on their website.

We'd be lying if we said that we didn't want everything in the store (even though we don't technically have children). Here are some ideas from the showroom that you could try applying to your own home:

110108_weego6.jpgPaint Your Floor: Here they've covered their concrete floor with a durable yellow paint making the room cohesive and bright. In our old studio we painted our concrete floors off white (instead of gray) and it made the space feel sleek and modern. It also meant we needed to mop a bit more often, but it was worth it.

110108_weego3.jpgUse the 80/20 Color Rule: They've done a great job keeping loads of white calm space in the store with concentrated areas of color to keep the space and colors from being overwhelming. This way you can have intense color that doesn't overtake a room. Apply this to your home just remember 80% neutral, 20% color.

110108_weego4.jpgPick a Color Scheme: Where they use color, they stick to a palette that helps define a space and make it look cohesive and organized. Here they're using brown, orange, yellow and a pop of blue for contrast.

110108_weego7.jpgGroup Multiples or Collections of Everyday Objects: These yellow kites were bought in bulk and installed on the ceiling. Besides looking airy and whimsical, they bring color to a high ceiling. Although we heard this became quite a nightmare to install, on a smaller scale it would be much more doable.

110108_weego8.jpgUse White: white shelves help keep a space looking clean and organized even if they're holding quite a lot especially if you organize what's on your shelves into color groups . Try the Ikea Expedit shelves for a similar look.

Stopped by on Friday morning to check it out. Asher has done it again, creating a beautful retail space stocked with unusual and ingenious items. Plus the gal working there was friendly and helpful.

Why is the sock monkey strangling the other sock monkey? Other than that, the store looks like a lot of fun!

I don't even have kids and I am contemplating pregnancy just so that I can have their pink nursery set. Great shop, highly recommend it!
