Alec, you could whip up a mirrored folding screen via Lowe's and a craft store in a weekend. Beveled mirror tiles are about $20.00 a six-pack (even though it doesn't say here it's for six, it should be for six, they come in a box):

No notched corners here, but other shapes, including pretty etched designs with scalloped borders:

Which would give it the Venetian Glass look. Joann's has some, even my grocery store has some smaller squares meant for candles to go on.

Add some mystery wood backing, and serious hinges. It would be about $200.00 total for the mirrors, a little bit of wood molding on the bottom wouldn't be much. The plain wood wouldn't be much. I don't know what kind of hinges you'd need, but I figure you could mimic the look for $300.00 for everything.

But if you really think that one above is worth $7,500.00, then I'd be happy to sell you one I could make for $300.00 for half-off the above price, $3,250.00.

I'll make you a nice ping-pong ball lamp too, and throw it in for free.
