There's comfy and then there's super comfy, like Naoko Kanehira's designs shown at the New Designers show in London. These pillow-centric seating options would make a good match for the demographic who likes draping their beds and couches with innumerable pillows. A few more photos of the cush designs below the jump...

Naoko Kanehira: "Cushion stool stands by itself with its four legs. People use cushion in various places to get comfortable. I simply added four legs so that cushion has a reasonable height to reach a table."
"Cushion sofa is structured with oversized cushions. The sofa invites you to snuggle in, not only by the comfort of the seat itself, but comfort for your eyes. Cushion covers of the backs can be changed. You can customize the sofa with your favourite fabrics, and enjoy different fabrics from summer to winter."

Looks like the Calin from Ligne Roset

Exactly what came to my mind bepsf! I loved the Calin loveseat and chairs but did not find them comfortable enough. Seem to remember feeling the metal frame while seated. Do like above designs and am definitely not one for "innumerable pillows" as stated above.

I'm not a fan of low-profile furniture. The stool with it's longish legs looks to me like someone was doing target practice with spears and a pillow. I think the aesthetic of these is very much suitable for Japanese places given the scale, but would seem too tiny in many Western homes.
There's no reason not to like these, but for some reason I don't. To each their own.
