Roundup: Double Use Ottomans

072808ottomans01.jpgBoConcept sent us an update of one our favourite small space sleepover solutions: the ottoman sleeper. It's Transformers style conversion is perfect for the the occasional drop-in guest and apparently is reputed to be great for specific activities according to certain readers. Here are a few other ottoman favourites from AT and beyond...

072808ottomans02.jpgWe're liking the updated diamond pattern of these BoConcept ottomans, but it looks like the price went upward since we last reported about these transforming sleepers.

072808ottomans03.jpgWhat a bummer, the Ellis Storage Cube is no longer available. The Crate and Barrel version isn't as simple modern, with a stockier shape, but there is a similar version from Target for $99.

Bamboo Ottoman from Vivavi are made from rapidly-renewable natural resources and skip the traditional forms of a typical ottoman. Too bad the cost is mostly prohibitive because it's sure cute.

072808ottomans04.jpgThe Talt Low Ottoman is meant for outdoors, but in the right room, it wouldn't look out of place inside.

072808ottomans06.jpgAvailable in medium or small versions, the West Elm storage cube has a eco-chic appeal with its woven Jute upholstery. The medium version comes with a hinged top while the smaller cube's top opens to reveal a 20" square storage unit inside.

Can someone tell me where the pillows on the cream couch are from?

okay, please feel free to tell me if I'm still a bit college ghetto:

I was looking for a small storage ottoman to put between my bed and the back wall to sit and play guitar. They are all fairly expensive considering nobody's going to see the side of it.
I ended up using an IKEA Lack Side Table, fluffed it up with pillows and stowed a basket underneath for extra storage.

I'm only about 115 lbs, so I figure it'll support my weight (another one holds my tv in the living room).

How hard do you think it would be to recover the target ottoman? It’s exactly what we need and the price is right but I doubt white furniture will go well with my 6 month old as he grows.

I can't escape the idea that, if you had a low room table big enough for 4 or 6 people (quasi-Japanese style), you could create a cool low-profile look that'd look great with these cubes and allow you to store things you need for dining or playing game sin the stools. It might be especially nifty for a kid's playroom.

Of course, I can't do this since my apartment is too small for any table, but it's an interesting idea.

I've got 2 small, square storage ottomans that I use as a coffee table-like structure in my living room. I got them at Pier One Imports 3 or 4 years ago, and I think they were less than $100 each. I absolutely LOVE them and they are perfect in my 500-sq ft guest house. I use them for a variety of things, including throw blankets, vases, tealights, and a few other random odds and ends. The best part is that the "lid" is two-sided. On one side is a cushy fabric to rest your feet, and the other side is a tray. I usually keep one on the fabric side for the comfort of my footsies and one on the tray side for drinnks and remote controls.

Not sure where those particular pillows are from, but you can find a similar looking pillow at Pottery Barn for only $29!
